Report thanks to Mike McMahon
Between 12th and 18th July the Royal Cork Yacht Club ran the prestigeous ACC Bank Cork Week Regatta - Ireland’s major yachting event for Racer-Cruisers, Cruiser-Racers and Sportsboats. Over 600 yachts took part, divided into numerous Classes.
Four yachts entered from the Douglas Bay Yacht Club and accredited themselves well among some illustrious company.
Congratulations to Jason & Debbie Corlett and the crew of “Eauvation” for finishing 3rd out of 12 entrants in the First 31.7 Class. Their scoreline was a very creditable 2-6-7-3-4-1-1.
An equally fine performance was that of Michael Wilson & Anthony Ellis and the crew of “Yknot”, which finished 4th out of 14 in the very competitive 1720 Sporstboat Class.
In one of the biggest and most competitive classes, IRC 3, Keith Lord and the crew of “A Crewed Interest”
finished 8th out of 40 entrants, with their best result a 2nd place. A great result in this class which featured many well known top-level UK and Irish boats.
In the Gentleman’s Class Peter Curphey’s new yacht “Grand Cru” finished a creditable 11th out of 17.
Well done everyone who kept the flag flying for DBYC and the Isle of Man.
