Sailing for 2008

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Like a grizzly bear, MSR has found itself in hibernation over the Winter months! But with a sign that Spring may be on the way shortly its time to start thinking about the 2008 sailing season.

As always, there is a full calendar of dinghy and cruiser racing planned for this year, a full list of the primary MYA events are available here (courtesy of Mick Kneale). On top of these there will of course be local racing hosted by the sailing clubs around the island. Keep an eye on the club websites (links to the right) for there racing and social event details.

MSR has been up and running for over 18 months now and has slowly grown into what we would like to think is one of the main online resources for sail racing information on the Isle of Man. We have aimed to provide coverage for all of the major Manx Sail Racing as well as reports and details on club racing and events. We could not have provided this information without the help of the growing network of club representatives and organisers that provide results and reports to MSR regularly, you know who you are, many thanks.

Why not take a look through the MSR archives at some of the events covered last year including the Island Dinghy Championships, Easter Regatta, Youth Championships and Cruiser Championships, the racing was excellent with some great performances.

Keep an eye on MSR through 2008 for all your manx sail racing news (and remember to get yourself a fine piece of MSR clothing to sport throughout the 2008 season!)

Not that where short of breaking Manx Sailing News during this period of September weather!

Have you been sailing all season getting soaked through with freezing feet? If yes then you maybe left your kit bag at the Isle of Man Yacht Club.

A good quality kit bag with the Rolex Fastnet 2001 logo including a pair of Dubarry Boots was left there after the Round Mann Race this year, if it is yours please just contact MSR through the details on the Contact MSR page.

Manx Sail Racer to Wear

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Hi all, we have good news for you!

We are aware that some mSr t-shirts have been spotted out in the wild, and some of you are eager to get hold of your very own. Well, it has been on our minds for time, but we wanted to get it just right before anyone reached for their wallet. Now we think the moment has arrived…

The new manxSailracer online shop, mSr2wear, offers top quality MSR branded clothing at some very reasonable prices. We can vouch for the quality of these garments; after going around a large number of suppliers we finally got hold of samples from our new friends at spreadshirt.net and knew the choice was made.

What’s more, every penny will go towards purchasing our own private Hawaiian Island go back into manxSailracer, to help cover the costs of running the site and enable us to promote mSr and Isle of Man Sailling to an even larger audience.

So without further ado, if you fancy it head over to msr2wear and get supporting the cause - in style!

Overwintering

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Well all, I hope you are having a marvellous run up to Christmas.

I know the forums are decidedly quiet at the moment, as the nights draw in, and the sailing news may be a little thin on the ground, but that’s not to say mSr aren’t looking to the future with some big ideas.

Some may have heard this subject raised before, but let me retouch on it. It is mSr’s wish to give back to the Manx sailing community, and our current thinking is to develop this web site into something a little more special, and a lot more useful.
